Nearing the End
Peanut Butter Diet HackGoal: Easy, fast and inexpensive food. Loose weight? Maybe not. Maybe just avoid the usual stuffing myself. Peanut butter is the optional but critical variable that can be adjusted at will. Add it on the bananas if you're loosing too much weight. Skip it if you recently cheated or just don't feel the need. Add all you want, just so long as it fits on the banana. I've eaten nothing but Jif Extra Crunchy for years but now I consider natural peanut butter. The kind with little falvor and the consistency of wet sand. Go with what you can tolerate. Breakfast

I did feel panicky on my first day of the diet. I didn't know if I could get by on a fixed menu. I'm used to eating whatever I can find in the kitchen. But I got through the first day without feeling hungry. In fact, I'm more satisfied on this diet that by eating wildly. I recommend brushing your teeth ASAP after eating. Maybe it's just psychological but it helps me stop thinking about food once I brush my teeth. Water? In most cases I think people have been oversold the benefits of water. I do think it's biggest benefit with this diet is when taken four hours after a meal, especially after breakfast. It's important to understand that the stomach empties in about four hours and so that's when you'll start to feel hungry. If you're not ready to eat the next meal then drink water instead. Only if it feels good going down. Drinking until you're feel uncomfortable is a waste. Cheat? If you find yourself with a bag of Hershey's Special Dark Kisses with Almonds, a box of Twinkies or a bucket of Popeye's Fried Chicken then either throw it out or eat it. All of it. Enjoy whatever you put in your mouth, just don't swallow. That's right, spit it out. Like at the Stuff n' Blow. Once you swallow it's too late to worry about. If you ever contemplate vomiting or laxative or feel desperate then contact professional help now. Snacks. I sometimes include a few raisins or grape tomatoes. Exercise? I do. A 15 minute walk in the morning, 30 minute swim at lunch and 90 minutes of Power Yoga in the evenings. That's not to say you have to do any of this in order to loose weight on this diet. It's all optional. I only mention my exercise to show that there's enough food in the diet to support you no matter your level of physical activity. In many respects I don't need to diet. But I do need to eat healthier and, believe it or not, this diet is better than my usual fare. This has also been an enlightening experience. It's much harder to follow a diet, even one as lax as this, than I expected. I also feel an unexpected sense of responsibility to create a reasonably "correct" diet. No small task. I'm keeping track of my progress. Links
